Early Spring Art and Craft Shows

The early spring art and craft shows have drawn nice crowds this year. The beautiful spring weather has been very beneficial to the success of these shows so far. Two weeks ago Fork and Spoon Jewelry participated in the Tulip Time Art Festival. The tulips were in full bloom and beautifully placed all through Holland, MI where the festival was located.
This coming weekend, May 18th and 19th, we will be at the Michigan State University campus for their annual spring art and craft festival, located in East Lansing, MI. Be sure to mark you calendar for this one, you will not be disappointed. There are a lot of booths to shop and East Lansing is home to a variety of good restaurants. Fork and Spoon Jewelry can be found at booth number 118. We will look forward to seeing you there. As always, when the outdoor show season arrives, so do many new jewelry designs and products. Our New Look in Shipshewana

This April will be spent getting our Fork and Spoon Jewelry booth ready for this year at the Shipshewana Flea Market in Shipshewana, Indiana. There is a lot of work to be done, painting, setting up displays cleaning and many other tasks. Fork and Spoon Jewelry is located at booth number 672. This year we are taking on a new look. We will be in one of the small brown buildings instead of a tent. This means more protection in case of inclement weather, hopefully a little cooler when it is hot and a little warmer when it is cool outside. We are hopeful that this change will make jewelry shopping in our booth a more pleasant experience.
Donovan will also be demonstrating some of his silver smith techniques, which will be exciting to see and educational as well. Some demonstrations will include the making of sterling silver wire rings and various other pieces of jewelry. Be sure to stop by and see what he is up to. No Longer a Fork or Spoon

When a person thinks of fork jewelry or spoon jewelry what comes to mind is an actual spoon or an actual fork. In all actuality, the spoon and or fork, no longer exist. Yes we use these items as our base material. Some are sterling silver and some are silver-plated. This is no different than a goldsmith using gold wire or gold sheet metal, or a silversmith who uses silver wire or silver sheet metal. All they are is the raw material. Sterling silver flatware is made of sterling silver, period. We could take the flatware and melt it down and make jewelry just as a typical metal smith beginning with a solid base metal would use. But then the beauty of the original pattern that was created many years ago would be completely lost.

Sterling Silver and Gold-Filled Wire Rings

Is there a difference when it comes to buying a sterling silver wire ring or gold-filled wire ring? The answer to this question is most definitely yes. Wire rings can be made with many different gauge wires. A common sterling silver wire ring sold today is made from 16-gauge wire, or even as small as 18-gauge wire, which is very thin wire making a lesser quality ring. At ForkJewelry.com we always use 14-gauge wire to make our sterling silver knot rings, sterling silver double-knot rings, sterling silver curly rings and our sterling silver and 14k gold-filled two-tone knot rings and 14k gold-filled knot rings.
The lower the number the thicker and heavier the wire is when referring to gauge. For example, a 16-gauge ring is thicker than 18-gauge and 14-guage is thicker than 16-gauge and so forth. If the gauge size is not stated, then you should always ask before making your purchase. Be cautious and be a smart shopper when buying jewelry online. Spring Art and Craft Shows are Nearing

In March we begin our spring show season. Fork and Spoon Jewelry will travel to Gulf Breeze, Florida to start off the year at Gulf Breeze High School on March 9 and 10. The following weekend, March 15, 16 and 17 we travel to Fairhope, Alabama for one of the biggest Art and Craft Shows in the country. If you live in the north and are looking for a change of climate in early spring, then I suggest you consider the Gulf Breeze-Pensacola area or Fairhope, Alabama and plan to attend one of the Art and Craft Shows I have mentioned above.
We will be introducing some new and unique fork jewelry and spoon jewelry designs as well as the traditional favorites. In the wintertime here at Fork and Spoon Jewelry, we keep quite busy. Donovan spends most of his time creating new spoon jewelry designs, making sterling silver wire rings, fork jewelry, spoon rings and spoon bracelets for the upcoming spring show season. The creative process never stops, especially in the winter when there is more time to commit to being creative. When the spring and summer Art and Craft Shows begin most of the time is spent making our fork and spoon jewelry.
Speaking of Art and Craft Shows, wintertime is when we work on our schedule and finalize shows for the upcoming season. This process alone is very time consuming and can be quite challenging each year. Show dates change, new shows are added and some shows get cancelled. Most of the shows we attend are juried shows, which require us to always be at our best. This too is where the creative process comes in keeping our fork and spoon jewelry current and relevant in the ever-changing marketplace. Fork and Spoon Jewelry has a normal return/exchange policy of 21 days from the order date. However, any spoon jewelry order that is placed between October 15, 2012 and December 25, 2012 may be returned/exchanged or returned for re-size if the fork or spoon jewelry is sent back to Fork & Spoon Jewelry in its original box by January 31, 2013. All other standard return policy rules apply. Please see our policy below:
Returns and Exchanges
If you are not satisfied with your purchase we will refund the amount of your purchase less the shipping fee. A refund will be issued after the merchandise has been returned. Returns, exchanges, and re-sizes will be accepted up to 21 days after the date of purchase. The Holiday purchase exception is; Return or Exchange by January 31, 2013 if your order is placed on or before December 25, 2012. When returning merchandise please use proof of delivery (delivery confirmation or package tracking). We will not be responsible for packages lost while being returned.
